You can call bulbous plants all those who have an aerial annual stem and a more or less big underground stem. The latter is used in most cases as organ of reproduction because rarely these plants reproduce themselves by grafting, cuttings or seed. The rhizomes, however, are underground stems that, instead of rising, they grow horizontally in the ground. By the stems are produced the roots, while by the side shoots grow the stems that carry leaves and flowers.
