As for all bulbous plants, also for onions and especially for some varieties, it can be used cloves instead of seeds, i.e. those bulbs obtained from seed sown on opportunely dense crops.
These bulbs, extirpated when they have a diameter slightly greater than 2 cm, ventilated at an appropriate temperature (4 °C - 8 °C) so that they do not germinate, are bed out (in the same mode of seedlings for transplanting from sowing in seedbed) from October to March, to obtain early production.
